Pride and Possession

Possession, ownership and pride may be ruling your life. Most of us take a lot of pride in what we own, we have worked hard for that ownership.

There are cultures and many people who do not have this same emotional attachments and feeling about what they have acquired.

We can learn a great deal from these cultures, and when you find yourself in a relationship with someone like this, it makes very interesting conversations.

The wide western culture is very much based around mass production and consumption. We judge a person by their house, their car or their décor.

Other cultures not born into pride and possessions do not value ownership anywhere near as much. They share freely, seldom argue over who owns what and who paid what for what.

The industry making these possessions is a multi billion dollar one, spending all their time and resources into convincing everyday people that its the possessions which they need to feel proud of.

Relationships among a multicultural society are ever increasingly complex, and the argument over pride and possession may be the cause.
