A new year has just begun, and many of us have set out our intentions for the coming months. Often we also look back on our past, revisit places we have been before or even just listen to music we once liked.
Reflecting on our past helps us make better decisions for the future. From our past we learn and can do our best not to make the same mistakes again. The road we once travelled is nothing more than a memory now.
My recent experience of listening to music that I absolutely worshipped as a teenager, was one of shock and horror. As I played a few songs from bands I once adored, like Korn and Tool, I hear sounds which now frighten me.
As a youth I was in a dark place, full of rage and hate for the world and for myself. I see this period of my life as a self destructive yet self discovering one.
Without going through the darkness we may never find the light. My new playlist consist of instrumentals of handpans and pipes.
